I was most impressed by the announcement of the Federal Australian government when they stated that:

"Nothing matters more for the quality
of education than the quality of the teachers
standing in front of the classroom."

Deputy Prime Minister, Australian (Federal) Government,
as reported on ABC1 TV Lateline program, 27th August 2008.

Yes indeed, I wholeheartedly agree that the quality of education and subsequent learning is utterly dependant upon the quality and skills of the teacher. If the teacher doesn't adequately convey the information, the quality of learning will be poor. The teaching will have failed.

The most important factor in any teaching or training session is the teacher or instructor. Just think back to your own personal experiences at school or higher learning institution and consider which teachers or instructors you gained the most from. There are always some memorable standouts:

Those are the teachers and instructors that produce quality learning outcomes—memorable experiences.

Now transfer those requirements to your adult working environment. When you need to learn something, or are involved in the training of others, the last thing you or they want is to suffer an uninteresting training session. You know the sort—emotionless statues reading directly from the text displayed on a PowerPoint presentation. Hardly inspiring, or even interesting; in fact, just plain boring; and a waste of everyone's time; to be avoided.
